I plan to attend this conference. I actually recently received my Certified Municipal Clerks designation from IIMC, so excited to finally be able to attend a conference now that it's in Canada!
Congradulations Marilyn! I would be interested in your insite as to the application process and any information, from your perspective, as to how to go about doing this. What were the online sessions that you attended, valuable information? I am hopeful to have my application sent in by September 1.
I actually submitted my application, and waited a few months and then go notified I was approved. You have to be a member of IIMC for two (2) years as one of the requirements, so best to buy a membership as soon as you can. I applied and thought that they would provide me with a listing of outstanding credits I still had to get/classes to complete in order to meet their education or experience requirements. I actually got accepted and approved without having to take anything additional. My 19 years municipal experience and previous education and professional development that I had, satisfied their requirements (they require 60 points in Education and 50 points in Experience).
I encourage anyone who is interested to become an IIMC member and apply for the designation. They will let you know if you meet the requirements, or what is left to fullfil, and help you through it. https://www.iimc.com/126/Certified-Municipal-Clerk-CMC-Program
I have taken one IIMC webinar regarding Records and Document Management, and it was a good webinar. After the session, I just had to complete a short assessment (quiz) and then it gave me a certificate stating that I completed it, and how many IIMC Points it gave me. I have heard their conference does similar process as well. Then you just hold onto the certificates and it's an easy way to keep track of the points that you have received.
